On Sunday (5/5), I went on a short trip, I went to Comibra again. I traveled together with the Erasmus organization ESN Lisboa, and we traveled with two hired buses. The purpose of the trip was to take part of the city's great graduation celebration. Before I went there, I had no idea what would happen and how students celebrated. The only thing I knew was that students would have a great procession. Students' special celebration called 3m scotchlite Queima das Fitas, 3m scotchlite and similar celebrations also take place in other locations here in Portugal. However, this graduation celebration be the best in Coimbra. This celebration 3m scotchlite can be described as a big party where the students graduating that year is celebrated. The celebrations continued for approximately one week, and the week in Coimbra initiated by a wide procession. Weather in Coimbra 3m scotchlite could not have been better, the radiant sun and 30 degrees Celsius. Me and my friend Kasia decided to first visit the university, where we managed to lose our ESN gangs. It was at university that wacky units started, and our knowledge of Coimbra's graduation celebration was growing by the second. At the university we were met by all self-made floats, and of crazy students who poured beer on each other. Me and Kasia ran quickly away from there for who wants to get wet of beer like this in the celebration? ... We walked down a street, found a restaurant and ordered two plates "batata fritas", French. Then we went down to the avenue to get as good a place as possible. Cortege The carriages were very well made, and the students filled with happiness 3m scotchlite and alcohol, and soon we had found our friends from Lisbon again. Something that was very nice during the procession was that the students were very generous, and shared their drinks, (when they were not poured over each other or us). When the procession was over it was all so said that "drowned" in Coimbra drinks, and I was very happy to have participated in this special celebration along with the city's lucky students. I can finish this post by telling you that the students in Comibra really know how to celebrate their graduation.
